Opened your box and find the ice packs fully melted? That can look worrying at first, but it doesn’t always mean there’s a problem with your meat.
What’s normal for ice packs
It’s actually normal for gel packs to be partially or even fully melted by the time your box arrives:
- The ice packs are designed to slowly release their cold energy as they protect the contents
- In many cases, the packs will be liquid while the meat inside is still safely chilled
The most important thing is how cold the products themselves feel when you touch them.
How to check your delivery
When you open your box:
- Gently press a finger on the packs of meat – they should feel cold to the touch
- If you have a kitchen thermometer, you can take a quick surface reading on a pack (optional but helpful)
- Pop the items into the fridge as soon as possible after delivery
If the products are still cold, melted gel packs alone are usually not a problem.
When to contact us
Please get in touch before using the products if:
- The meat feels warm or room‑temperature instead of chilled
- The box looks like it has been left in a very warm place for a long time
- You notice any sour or off smells, blown-up packs, or other signs of spoilage
In those cases, it’s important that we check everything for you.
